Electromagnetic Flow Meters

Electromagnetic flow meters (or ‘magmeters’) are a popular and highly accurate flow measurement option for wastewater applications that require a low maintenance solution without pressure drop.

As covered in BS/ISO 6817, electromagnetic flow meters operate on the principle of Faraday’s Law, which states that the voltage induced across any conductor as it moves at right angles through a magnetic field is proportional to the velocity of that conductor.

Closed Conduit Flow Measurement

SIRIS MCERTS-certified electromagnetic flow meters are designed for measuring liquid flow within an enclosed pipe.

Electromagnetic flow meters provide an unobstructed flow path which avoids pressure loss and they are unaffected by issues such as temperature or viscosity.

All SIRIS electromagnetic flow meters satisfy regulatory requirements.

Low maintenance solution

Electromagnetic flow meters are often labelled a “fit and forget” solution due to their low maintenance requirements, though correct and MCERTS qualified installation is essential for their correct working. While we do recommend occasional servicing to ensure it is working to optimum standards, the lack of moving parts makes this type of flow meter a robust and easy-to-maintain option.

MCERTS Certification

Accurate & reliable data

SIRIS flow meters carry MCERTS accreditation so you can be confident that the data provided is reliable and accurate and will provide accurate and reliable long-term flow measurement.

Our flow meters are designed to meet with relevant regulatory discharge and MCERTS requirements.

All SIRIS products are compatible with our web-based data recording software, which allows quick and easy access to your data at any time – from any location.

Design & installation

We pride ourselves in offering a bespoke service to all of our clients. Our design and installation process ensures we provide you with a cost-effective solution tailored to suit your site’s individual requirements.

Enquiry

When you first contact SIRIS, our friendly team will be on hand to take your enquiry and assess your needs. We know that every site has different requirements, so we’ll work closely with you to understand your individual needs.

Quote

At this stage our wastewater management experts will provide a tailored quote for your system. For most sites we can do this using photographs, however for larger or more complicated sites we will arrange to visit you and assess it in person. If MCERTS is required we will ensure we develop a system that is fully compliant

Build

Our team will assemble your bespoke system at our dedicated facility. We’ll also pre-calibrate any equipment that can be commissioned off-site.

Delivery and installation

We will arrange for your equipment to be delivered directly to site and liaise with your chosen contractor to advise on installation requirements. Depending on the project, we may also attend site to assist with the installation process.

Calibration

Our specialist engineers will attend site to commission your equipment and check it’s working correctly. We’ll also go through your new system with you and answer any questions you have. Once we’ve completed the calibration we will be able to issue you with a CalCert which allows you to prove your site is fully compliant to auditors.

Aftercare

Our team is always on hand to support with any queries or teething problems you may be experiencing. For most sites we also recommend a bi-annual servicing package to ensure your equipment continues to function correctly.

Compatibility with site systems

All SIRIS products can be used with our data monitoring software, Palette, however they are also compatible with your existing SCADA system. Our expert team is committed to working in partnership with our customers to meet their individual requirements and ensure our products fit seamlessly into each site.

Simon Richardson says…

“Our electromagnetic flow meters aren’t affected by issues such as pressure loss, temperature changes or viscosity, making them a highly effective low-maintenance option for enclosed pipe applications. Remember, it’s essential that they are installed by qualified experts to ensure accuracy of results.”
